I was very fortunate to have spent years working at one of Nicaragua's finest beaches. Loved by its inhabitants it is definitely the most pristine beach around. Playa Escameca Grande on a map. I will always think of it as Costa Dulce, which is the hotel I used to work at.
The Tour leaves the Frente Sur office at 11am. We start off with a nature walk, wherein we explore the Saltwater mangrove area and lagoon and then walk through the woods behind looking for all kinds of birds who make this home for the excellent habitat of the lagoon. Animals such as monkeys, sloths, with the possibility of many more, anteaters, kinkajou, armadillo, mapache and on and on. Reptiles, Crocodiles, cayman, boas. And this being an intertidal zone many halloween land crabs. That’s just the animals. We will explore the plants and trees as well and there are some beautiful examples of old growth trees which can give you idea of what the jungle would’ve looked like without the hand of man.
After our nature walk we can have lunch at las Tortugas, a classic little beach restaurant right in front of a fun little wave. Tasty comida tipica is what they serve but no worries if you are a vegetarian it’s right in front of a yoga retreat center so plant based food options are available. After lunch enjoy the beach as please just relax in a shady hammock or rent a surfboard and get some waves, head back into the woods for more nature. Or if you like you can book one of the many spa services from Costa Dulce Spa which is just steps away.

As sunset nears we will check out the Vital Actions turtle hatchery. We will learn about the turtle hatchery as well as their other initiatives that range from environmental to humanitarian. And if luck is with us there will be turtles to be released and we can watch them swim off into the sunset.
After sundown we head back to town, and can drop you off wherever you like.
